Welcome to Columbia University’s Shotokan Karate Club

Our Club is a martial arts club located at Columbia University. We are affiliated with Shotokan Karate of America (SKA), the oldest karate organization in the United States, a non-profit, non-commercial, organization with more than 100 clubs around North America, as well as affiliates in thirteen countries overseas. Our goal is to practice shotokan karate as a martial art at its highest level. We are an official Club Sport of Columbia University. We Practice ALL YEAR ROUND!!

Self Defense Sessions

Our club, joint with Columbia Public Safety, offers self-defense sessions to the Columbia community. For information email to shotokan@columbia.edu.

Wien Hall I-House I-House


International House (I-House)
is a complex between Riverside Drive and Claremont Ave., around 123rd St. If you are not a resident of I-House, you must be on the Guest List in order to enter the building. When you enroll, you will get an email with directions.

MSM is the Manhattan School of Music, located at 130 Claremont Ave. We practice in room 707 (7th floor).

Wien Hall is on the Columbia University Campus. From the corner of Amsterdam Ave. & 116th St., walk east on 116th St. After you pass Greene Hall (Law School) on your left, you will see a gate. Enter the gate and Wien Hall is on your right.

Lerner Hall is on the Columbia University Campus, on the corner of Broadway & 115th St. We practice either in the Party Space (basement) or the Broadway Room.

We DO NOT offer classes for children.
